A fun weekend

It has been a busy, but fun-filled weekend for the Flacks! It was a long week at school this week, so I was glad to see Friday at 3:15 arrive! On Friday afternoon, the new associate for Mills River UMC, Paige Ann Miller, came for her official visit to the church. She came over to the parsonage with her family and then we all went over to Jan's house for dinner. It was nice to get to meet her and visit; she and Michael both did their seminary work at Emory so they lots in common. One neat connection they shared was that they both did their contextual education work at the Metro State Women's prison! How many people can say that? ;)

Saturday was Uncle Day-Day's graduation from Brevard College. It was a nice ceremony. Since it was outdoors, Lucy, Michael and I went and sat in the shade - first, because I hadn't put any sunscreen on my child, and second, because I knew there was no way that Lucy would be able to sit through the service. We made it with only a few walks, some program coloring, and a visit to the fish tank in the science building. :) It was a good day, and we are so proud of Uncle David! Sorry I don't have a picture - I forgot to get them off Mom's camera before she left!

We went to David's restaurant for lunch, where Lucy kept eating Poppa's calamari. . . yeah. I couldn't believe it either! Then we came home for a nice long nap, and some playtime. After dinner time, Mom and Dad gave me a birthday gift, which Lucy thought was for her. :)

I think the shirt will probably be a better fit on me, but she still looks pretty cute!

And here are a few cute pictures of Lucy in her dress from Gramma. . .

Today was Choir Sunday at MRUMC. . . the flowers were placed in my honor by Steve and the Chancel choir to thank me for my service. It was very sweet of them and I am very touched. But I really feel like I should be the one thanking them. For the past five years, I have been so blessed to be a part of the ministry they do and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to serve with them. Through the choir, Steve, and Kevin, I have grown so much in my faith, my understanding of what it means to truly minister through music, and been able to have opportunities to use the talents that God has given me. After all, God gives us gifts to use, not hide away! And while I do look forward to new experiences at our new church and perhaps having a Wednesday evening to myself every now and then, I will miss them terribly. But that's a blog entry for another day; for now, let me just say how thankful I am to have them in my life.

And now, it's time to get ready for Monday and the week that we look forward to and dread at the same time - EOG week! (Look forward to because that means we've reached the end of year; dread because of the stress and panic that comes with these crazy tests!) Oh well, ready or not, here we go - 15 more days 'til summer!!
