Lake Louise

In downtown Weaverville, there is a beautiful park around Lake Louise. We decided after dinner to take Lucy down to the park. I wanted to run for a little bit around the trail at the lake and we knew Lucy would enjoy the playground. She had a great time and just cried and cried when we told her it was time to go home and go to bed. I imagine we will be back there many times!!!

Lucy, getting ready to go down a slide

Sitting in the grass by the pond. She enjoyed looking at the ducks and quacking! :)

Climbing up the stairs by ourselves - what a big girl she's getting to be!

She LOVED the slide that "spins" :)

Swinging was a favorite

Even big kids love to swing :)

Maybe we've lived in the mountains too long . . .

Michael and I had decided that we were going to get Lucy a Cozy Coupe for her birthday, but we wanted to wait until we had finished moving. So on Friday, as Lucy and I were driving home, I said to her, "Lucy, Mommy and Daddy are going to get you a car - would you like a red car?" And her reply? "Nope!" So I said, "Well, they make pink cars too - would you like one of those?" She thought for a moment and then said, "No - pink truck!" Despite my best efforts, she is becoming a mountain girl!

But as you can see, we ended up with the red car. They did have a pink power wheel jeep/truck, but I don't think she's quite ready for that! And in future planning, I figured a red one might get more use down the road than a pink one. She has had a good time with it. This afternoon we went out to play and she wanted to get "Big Elmo" to ride with her.

Welcome to Weaverville!

Yes, we're still here! What a wild few weeks it has been! June 27th was our last Sunday at Mills River. It was a bittersweet day, filled with hard goodbyes. Mills River was a wonderful place for us and as hard as it was to leave, we are so excited to be at Salem UMC in Weaverville. And as a wise person once told me, "Goodbyes are hard, but sometimes change is necessary for us to grow." We are looking forward to this new step in our lives and all the ways it will allow us to grow as a family, for Michael as a minister, and for Salem as a church. But we also look forward to hearing about all the ways that Mills River UMC grows as well with Paige Ann.

Last Tuesday we moved into our new home in Weaverville. Everything is almost out of boxes now. . . hopefully soon we will have everything in its place so it can feel like home rather than living out of boxes! Lucy had a difficult time on Monday night when we loaded up the truck but when she saw her new room with all her stuff, she jumped right in and things have been fine. She even has a play area in the guest bedroom as well as toys in her room and in the living room. . .so now she can make a mess in three rooms! :)

One of Lucy's favorite things about the new house is the turtle sandbox in the back yard. It was left here from the last family and she has had a great time with it. We're still trying to help her understand that the sand needs to stay in the box. :)

Lucy has lots of fun playing outside. . . the parsonage has a great yard with lots of shady places to play!

Another new for Lucy is going to preschool! Today was her first day at school - I just can't believe she's actually old enough for preschool. . . time is just flying by! Here is Lucy before she left for school -

She seemed to have a good first day. Of course, when we got in the car the first thing she asked about was "Home - new buh?" (New buh is what she calls her Wee Sing videos that she is obsessed with right now.) We had a snack and watched a little of it when we got home and she sat with me and snuggled during the movie, so I know she must have been tired after her exciting day!

Sunday will be Michael's first Sunday preaching at Salem so it will be exciting to get started there. And as for me, I have been at school this week for workdays and kids will be arriving on Monday and the countdown to September break will be on! :)
