December 8th

Lucy loves playing with her Little People Nativity. It sits in the floor of the office and when you walk in, you have to watch out for runaway sheep and wisemen. . . you never know where they will end up!! She enjoys making "Baby Jesus Mommy" and "Baby Jesus Daddy" walk around the manger. One day we found everyone standing in the manger, staring at the back wall - wonder what they were looking at??

And in other news, my child is so smart. Yes, I know that all mothers say that, but seriously, my kid is a smart one. Today, when Michael picked her up from preschool, Ms. Erin showed him Lucy's latest skill, which is reading all of her classmates names off of the roll. She would point to a name and Lucy would say it. She would skip around and Lucy still recognized the name. She could tell the difference between her friend "Jace" and "Jonah" ... didn't matter what name it was, she got it correct every time. Impressive, right?? I think so!! I know that she probably has just memorized them, but still, learning words by sight is a difficult skill for some kindergarteners!! Santa and Mommy and Daddy have gotten her some toys for Christmas that work on phonemic awareness which leads to begin to sounding words out. As smart as she is, she'll be reading before you know it!
